Puerto Princesa is the main arrival hub by plane and ferry to Palawan Island. Manila is about an hour-long flight away. Even before the development of international tourism that started during the ‘90s in Palawan, Puerto Princesa was already a sought-after weekend or holiday destination for wealthy Manilans.

Puerto Princesa is the capital city of Palawan and the second most popular holiday destination in the province, behind El Nido. Recognised as the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines, it offers a pleasant urban environment nestled in splendid natural surroundings that include great beaches and pristine forested hills.

 
 

Where is Puerto Prinsesa

Puerto Princesa is located in the mid-section of Palawan Island. It is bound to the east by the Sulu Sea, to the west by the South China Sea, to the north by the municipalities of San Vicente and Roxas, and to the south by the municipality of Aborlan.

 

Via Plane

The fastest and most comfortable way to reach Puerto Princesa in Palawan is by plane. There are flights from all over the country and the world that land at Puerto Princesa International Airport from airlines like Cebu Pacific, AirAsia and Philippine Airlines. If you’re coming from Manila, Clark or Cebu, you can reach Palawan in an hour and 15 minute flight. There are also flights within Palawan from Puerto Princesa to El Nido that only last 30 minutes. If you’re coming from Boracay, you can book flights to Puerto Princesa on Tuesdays.

Via Boat

There are scheduled boat trips from Manila to Palawan if you want to travel by sea. This is a much cheaper option than flying but obviously takes longer than a plane. Every Thursday, Negros Navigation has trips to Puerto Princesa while the Super Ferry goes to the island every Friday. The trip takes between 18-22 hours.

From El Nido via Van

There are vans leaving El Nido from 4 am to 10 pm for Puerto Princesa. It will take around 5 hours fare and the fare is 600 PHP (shared. This is a faster option than taking a bus.
